According to the Kentucky State Police dispatch at Post #1 and investigators, a trooper was shot overnight in Lyon County, Kentucky.
Lyon County Judge Executive Wade White reports the trooper was killed.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. at mile marker 49 on Interstate 24 in Lyon County, Kentucky.
White says initial reports indicated the trooper was involved in a high-speed chase with shots fired.
Police are searching for a suspect that is considered armed and dangerous.
White reports investigators believe the suspect is near Bluegrass Heights. Police have secured a one mile radius using K9 units and a high number of police officers.
