GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a man has died after police used a stun gun on him in a Gulfport restaurant.
Local news outlets report that the incident occurred Saturday night after police responded to a disorderly conduct call.
Gulfport police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said in a news release that police found the 53-year-old man outside the restaurant and attempted to investigate the incident. McDaniel says the man was resistant and officers deployed a stun gun to subdue him.
Police say the man continued to act erratically.
The suspect was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released his name.
The District Attorney’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating the case.
